Click tracking and reports

See which marketplace earns your clicks, without tracking people.

What gets recorded

Click tracking records a daily count per product and per marketplace, in a table in your own database. No IP addresses, no visitor profiles, no fingerprinting, and nothing is sent anywhere else.

Tracking is off after installation. Switch it on from EM Buttons → Reports, in the Click Tracking section below the charts.

Choosing who counts

The Count Clicks From setting decides whose clicks are recorded: everyone, everyone except administrators and shop managers, or guests only. Pick everyone while you confirm tracking works, then narrow it so your own clicks stop inflating the numbers.

Reading the reports

The Reports tab opens on the dashboard: total clicks with a comparison against the previous period, a daily average, your top marketplace and top product, then a trend chart and a marketplace share chart. Both charts switch between shapes, and the tables below list top products and a marketplace breakdown.

Filters cover the time frame, a single marketplace and a single product, and the filtered view has its own URL, so a particular report can be bookmarked or shared.

Google Analytics 4

An optional setting sends an emb_marketplace_click event to Google Analytics 4 when a button is clicked. It requires gtag.js to already be present on your site. This is separate from the built-in reports, which keep working either way.

Exporting, importing and resetting

The Report Data section exports all click data as CSV, imports a previously exported file, and resets everything. Import adds counts to existing rows, so restoring a backup into an empty table reproduces it exactly. The reset button stays disabled until you tick the confirmation box, because it cannot be undone.

To import, drop a CSV onto the upload area or click it to browse. The filename appears once a file is chosen. Uploads are limited to 5 MB, which is far larger than any real export, and a file that fails to upload is reported rather than half-read.
